Summary

Maintains psychosocial needs of patients and families through meetings, reports, and consultations.

Responsibilities

  • Gathers information and documents psychosocial needs of patients and families.
  • Serves as a liaison between patients, families, and medical staff to ensure appropriate clinical services and medical plans are in place.
  • Prepares families for medical events, assists with hospitalization and diagnosis, provides emotional support, and facilitates discharge planning.
  • Provides developmental services such as group activities and interventions.
  • Maintains a safe activity room with appropriate materials and supplies, documenting attendance and interventions.
  • Supervises, orients, and trains volunteers and interns to provide quality interactions with patients.
  • Ensures a positive, supportive, and cooperative attitude with customers and reports suggestions for positive change.

Requirements

  • Required Education: Bachelor's Degree
  • Required Work Experience: Child Life - Direct 3 month internship
  • Certification: Certified Child Life Specialist (CCLS) from the Association of Child Life Professionals (ACLP)

Qualifications

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to interact with patients, families, and medical staff.
  • Knowledge of child development and psychology.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.

Skills

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
