Summary
Maintains psychosocial needs of patients and families through meetings, reports, and consultations.
Responsibilities
- Gathers information and documents psychosocial needs of patients and families.
- Serves as a liaison between patients, families, and medical staff to ensure appropriate clinical services and medical plans are in place.
- Prepares families for medical events, assists with hospitalization and diagnosis, provides emotional support, and facilitates discharge planning.
- Provides developmental services such as group activities and interventions.
- Maintains a safe activity room with appropriate materials and supplies, documenting attendance and interventions.
- Supervises, orients, and trains volunteers and interns to provide quality interactions with patients.
- Ensures a positive, supportive, and cooperative attitude with customers and reports suggestions for positive change.
Requirements
- Required Education: Bachelor's Degree
- Required Work Experience: Child Life - Direct 3 month internship
- Certification: Certified Child Life Specialist (CCLS) from the Association of Child Life Professionals (ACLP)
Qualifications
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision.
- Strong interpersonal skills to interact with patients, families, and medical staff.
- Knowledge of child development and psychology.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.
Skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
