Role Overview
Responsible for planning, developing, and delivering Child Life programs to address the psychological, emotional, and developmental needs of pediatric patients and their families.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate, schedule, and supervise special events in inpatient pediatric areas.
- Collaborate with marketing and media teams for photography, filming, and interviews; host donor events.
- Develop strategies to reduce children's fear and anxiety related to healthcare experiences.
- Prepare patients and families for procedures using therapeutic play activities.
- Assess child's developmental stage and emotional state to tailor interventions.
- Identify and apply coping strategies for patients and families facing hospitalization, illness, or loss.
- Provide specialized services to meet individual needs and consult with healthcare staff on developmental and behavioral issues.
- Maintain accurate records of services provided and manage departmental budget and resources.
- Offer Child Life consultations to support patient visitors and their needs.
Qualifications & Skills
- Certified Child Life Specialist (CCLS) with State of Pennsylvania licensure upon hire.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Child Life or related field.
- Minimum of 1 year experience working with children in a healthcare setting.
- Basic Life Support certification (American Heart Association) upon hire.
Physical Demands
- Ability to lift and carry 40-50 lbs, stand and walk frequently, and perform activities such as kneeling, bending, and CPR as needed.
