Child Life Specialist - Child Life

About the role

Responsible for assessing, developing, planning, implementing and evaluating psychosocial interventions that support the educational, developmental, emotional and therapeutic needs of pediatric patients and their families. Utilizes a facility dog to provide therapeutic Child Life interventions within the inpatient setting.

Responsibilities

• Affirmatively assesses and develops psychosocial interventions for pediatric patients and their families.
• Plans, implements, and evaluates therapeutic interventions designed to meet the psychosocial needs of pediatric patients and their families.
• Utilizes a facility dog to provide therapeutic interventions within the inpatient setting.
• Collaborates with multidisciplinary teams to ensure comprehensive care for pediatric patients and their families.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Child Life, Child Development, Family Studies, Education, or Psychology required or related degree.
• One (1) year supervised experience in an established Child Life Program.
• Completion of a 600-hour Child Life internship required.

Prior Experience

• Master's degree preferred.
• Child Life Certification preferred.

Qualifications

Minimum qualifications include a Bachelor's degree in Child Life, Child Development, Family Studies, Education, or Psychology, one (1) year supervised experience in an established Child Life Program, and completion of a 600-hour Child Life internship.
