Job Functions
- Assess each child in the program to determine the child’s present performance level in developmental domains including: gross motor, fine motor, cognitive and social.
- In consultation with the rehabilitation specialist, the child life specialist will make recommendations for developmentally appropriate activities and measurable goals in each developmental domain.
- Participate in regularly scheduled interdisciplinary staff meetings.
- Provide a program for parents to assist them in meeting the medical, developmental and psychosocial needs of the child at home.
- Develop a daily schedule of activities or lesson plans for all center activity rooms that are: Age and developmentally appropriate to meet each child’s needs, abilities, interests, parallel theme(s) of week, month, season to reflect assistant(s) suggestions.
- Prepare classroom environment, play areas and learning centers.
- Assure the safety and well-being of the child.
- Be involved with professional development.
- Complete other duties as assigned by the center
Qualifications
- Must have Child Life Specialist certificate OR teaching certificate.
