About the role

The Child Life Specialist will provide support to children and families impacted by neuroscience and trauma-related conditions. This includes working with patients, families, and staff to promote emotional, social, and developmental well-being.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop and implement therapeutic programs for children and families.
• Provide emotional support and facilitate coping strategies for children and families dealing with complex medical situations.
• Engage in educational activities to enhance understanding of child development and psychology among healthcare providers.
• Conduct outreach and education sessions to improve patient and family engagement in care plans.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Child Development, Psychology, or related field.
• Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in a healthcare setting.
• Experience working with children and families in a trauma/neuroscience setting is preferred.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work flexible hours including evenings and weekends.

Qualifications

• Current CPR certification.
• Knowledge of child development theories and practices.
• Experience with evidence-based interventions for children and families.

Skills

• Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.

Pay

Salary range: $50,000 - $60,000 annually.
