Child Life Assistant - Child Life Services
About the role
Kapi'olani Medical Center for Women & Children is Hawai'i’s only maternity, newborn and pediatric specialty hospital. It is well recognized as Hawai'i’s leader in the care of women, infants and children. The Child Life Assistant position supports the Child Life Services team, providing life-changing support to hospitalized pediatric patients and their families.
Responsibilities
- Provide support to pediatric patients and their families during their hospital stays.
- Engage in activities designed to help children cope with their treatment and hospitalization, such as medical play, preoperative tours, and pre-procedural teaching.
- Collaborate with the Child Life team and other healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive care for pediatric patients.
- Assist in maintaining a positive and supportive environment for pediatric patients and their families.
Requirements
- Associate’s degree in Child Development, Child Life, or related field and/or equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
- Current American Heart Association Heart Saver – AED CPR card.
