Northern Lakes Community Mental Health Authority (NLCMHA) is seeking a Child & Family Home Based Therapist in the Traverse City office. NLCMHA is committed to Youth Driven Family Guided care and the resiliency of children, particularly those infants, children, and families who have experienced trauma.

About the role

This professional position provides therapeutic services to infants, children, and adolescents with serious emotional disturbance and their families. Services include conducting assessments, making diagnoses, developing treatment plans, providing individual and family therapy using DHHS-approved Evidence Based Models, monitoring progress, and documentation. The role involves collaboration and consultation with community service agencies, schools, and courts. Home Based services is an intensive family service program typically conducted in the family home or other community-based locations. Primary service area is Grand Traverse and Leelanau Counties.

Responsibilities

  • Provide individual therapy, family therapy, group therapy, crisis intervention, family collateral contacts, coordination of care, and case management services to children birth to age 18 and their families using DHHS Evidence Based Models.
  • Conduct comprehensive, quality assessments of children and families, including general mental health assessments and specialty assessments (e.g., Trauma Assessment).
  • Reach appropriate diagnoses and develop individualized/family treatment plans based on Person Centered Planning Practices.
  • Maintain specialized certifications as required to meet the needs of persons served.
  • Maintain agency paperwork and clinical record documentation (e.g., CAFAS/PECFAS, MichiCANS, annual assessments, person-centered plans, status reports, progress notes, vouchers) in a timely and accurate fashion.
  • Provide services such as psychological testing, clinical supervision, parent education, community education classes, or interagency presentations based on professional training.
  • Participate in staff development activities, including trainings provided by the Department of Health and Human Services and those promoting skill development.
  • Work cooperatively with community agencies and providers to promote quality, community-based services.
  • Participate in quality assurance programs and periodic evaluation of performance and outcomes of service delivery.
  • Comply with mandatory reporting requirements in situations of suspected child abuse or neglect.
  • Provide crisis coverage during business hours for families receiving Home Based Services.
  • Advise supervisor regarding schedule and whereabouts daily.

Requirements

  • Master's Degree in Social Work, Psychology, or Counseling from an accredited university.
  • Must have and maintain licensure with the State of Michigan as a fully licensed professional:
    • Preferred: Licensed Masters Social Worker (LMSW), Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), Psychologist.
    • Considered: Limited Licensed Masters Social Worker (LLMSW), Limited Licensed Professional Counselor (LLPC), Master's Limited Psychologist.
  • Ability to be credentialed by NLCMHA to provide services in this professional discipline.
  • Previous training and competence in Evidence Based Practices, including Trauma Focused CBT, preferred.
  • Meets MDHHS criteria for a Child Mental Health Professional.

Pay

$71,663 - $81,663

Working Conditions

  • May require irregular hours.
  • May require travel by personal vehicle if an agency vehicle is not available.
  • Occasionally: Lifting up to 25 lbs. with or without assistance, stretching/reaching, exposure to bloodborne pathogens and infectious disease, exposure to hazardous material, and stooping (bend at waist).
  • Frequently: Hand/finger dexterity, talking in person, talking on the telephone, hearing in person, hearing on the telephone, vision for close work.
