Job Summary
Supervise children at all times, maintain a secure, safe environment, supervise and train assistants, create and implement lesson plans, complete classroom reports, prepare daily reports, attend staff meetings, provide positive feedback to parents, communicate effectively, adhere to DFPS proceedings and regulations, change diapers/toilet train children, maintain confidentiality, demonstrate professionalism, maintain a stimulating and varied schedule, ensure proper dismissal procedures, support Catholic education philosophy, adhere to school policies, maintain CPR/First Aid kit, maintain accurate records, collaborate with peers, manage stress, work in various conditions, perform physical tasks, adapt to changes, prioritize student needs.
ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
- Supervise children at all times, maintaining a secure, safe environment
- Supervise and train assistants in your room on policies, procedures, and regulations
- Create and implement lesson plans
- Complete necessary classroom reports
- Prepare daily reports for each child in your classroom
- Attend staff meetings outside of work hours
- Provide positive feedback to parents
- Communicate effectively with students, parents, and other professionals
- Adhere to proceedings and regulations with the DFPS
- Change diapers/toilet train children where necessary
- Always comply with the presentation requirements set by the school
- Attend ongoing training to keep education and regulations up to date
- Participates in dismissal procedures at the end of after care, ensuring that each child leaves with the appropriate adult (i.e., an authorized adult)
- Supports and upholds the philosophy of Catholic education and the mission of the school
- Acts as a witness to Gospel values by modeling the teachings of the Catholic Church
- Supports and adheres to the policies and procedures of the school and Archdiocese of San Antonio, including the Religious Standards for Catholic School Employees
- Maintains confidentiality regarding school matters
- Demonstrates professionalism in conduct, demeanor, and work habits
- Maintain a stimulating and varied schedule of activities appropriate for the students in a well-ordered environment
- Positive interaction with parents
- Attend Archdiocesan, on campus and other in-services as required
- Perform such other duties as may be assigned by the Director
- Ensure that during the hours of operation there is at least one staff member trained in CPR/First Aid
EVALUATION
Performance of this job will be evaluated by the Director.
Requirements
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent, CDA credential preferred
- Experience: At least 18 years old, one (1) year of experience in a childcare setting
- Other Requirements: Meet state’s education criteria, excellent communication skills, be a team player, have reliable transportation, CPR and First Aid certification (can be obtained during job training), must pass archdiocesan Safe Environment Requirements and background screening, must pass Texas DPS Fingerprint-based Applicant Clearinghouse screening
