About the role

As a Child Development Associate at Torrington Community Hospital, you will assist in the care of children and help plan and implement a developmentally appropriate educational program. This PRN role offers varied shifts (Monday–Friday, 6:00 AM–7:00 PM) to cover breaks, vacations, and high-volume periods. The small, close-knit team takes childcare responsibilities seriously, providing a supportive environment for those who love working with children.

Torrington Community Hospital is a 25-bed critical access hospital serving southeast Wyoming and bordering Nebraska communities. The facility features digital mammography, a state-of-the-art emergency department, electronic medical records, and a computerized OB system designed to reduce labor and delivery complications. The location offers small-town charm with access to recreational activities in the Black Hills, Rocky Mountains, and Denver.

Responsibilities

• Assist senior staff with planning and implementing developmentally appropriate curricula, lesson plans, and programs that meet departmental goals and children’s needs.
• Maintain a healthy learning environment by cleaning toys and materials, demonstrating safety practices, and minimizing injury risks.
• Plan and lead creative activities that promote physical, intellectual, social, and emotional development.
• Support the social development of young children and assist parents as needed.
• Perform record-keeping, inventory maintenance, and resource reporting.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• At least 18 years of age.
• One year of experience working with children.
• Compliance with applicable registration regulations and health requirements.
• Strong oral and written communication skills.
• Responsibility, flexibility, and sensitivity to children’s needs.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working with children from birth to age five in a classroom setting.
• Associate’s Degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or Early Childhood Special Education, covering:
  • Child development and learning (birth through kindergarten).
  • Family and community relationships.
  • Observing, documenting, and assessing young children.
  • Teaching and learning strategies.
  • Professional practices and development, including field-based experience.
