Berkley Child & Family Development Center in the School of Education, Social Work, and Psychological Sciences at the University of Missouri-Kansas City Job Description The UMKC Berkley Child and Family Development Center, located on the UMKC Volker campus, is seeking experienced part-time Child Development Aides with positive attitudes, strong problem-solving skills, and who are committed to providing the highest quality childcare. As a Child Development Aide, you will provide guidance and care and facilitate the development of children enrolled in The Berkley Child and Family Development Center. Duties Include But Are Not Limited To Assist teachers in carrying out curriculum, care activities and routines Interact with families on a daily basisAssist teachers with paperwork as needed Assist with classroom’s general housekeepingParticipate in classroom decisions involving procedures and program as delegated by supervisorsAnswering phoneLight clerical work (typing, filing, etc.)Attend staff meetingsParticipate in required in-service trainings as required by Missouri State LicensingMay regularly lift up to 50 pounds and perform actions such as pushing, pulling, bendingOther duties as assigned Shift Part-time staff must be available to work until 12:00pm to 6:00pm at least 3 days a weekShifts can range from all day (8:00am to 5:00pm), to part day (12:00pm to 6:00pm) Shifts may be flexibleHours are not guaranteed Minimum Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent and some experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary.Must be at least 18 years of age. Preferred Qualifications At least 1 year experience in a child care environment Attendance in child development classesChild Development Associate (CDA) Certificate Anticipated Hiring Range The anticipated hiring range for this position has been established as $15.00 per hour. Salary is determined by a variety of factors, including but not limited to, the individual’s particular combination of education, skills, and experience, as well as organizational requirements.
