CHILD CARE MONITOR I

Essential Performance Responsibilities

• Conduct planned activities for the Before and After School Care on-site program.
• Maintain a safe environment for the participants.
• Incorporate enrichment activities to support the developmental needs of the participants.

Minimum Qualifications & Experience

• A standard high school diploma or GED equivalent.
• Experience working with school-age children in a group supervision setting.
• Completion of BASCC Comprehensive Child Care Components I and II within the first year, or completion of Florida Department of Children and Families (My Florida) modules: SNP-10 hours, UDAP-5 hours, SAP-5 hours within the first year.
• At least 10 hours of approved BASCC Child Care training annually.
• Basic computer skills as needed for the position.
• Age 18 or older.

Preferred Qualifications & Experience

• Significant contact with physical and emotional needs of school-age children.
• Experience with special needs practices.
• Understanding of developmentally appropriate practices.
• Experience with school-age appropriate practices.

Physical Requirements

Medium work: Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently and/or up to 10 pounds of force as needed to move objects.

Terms of Employment

• Salary and benefits consistent with the District's approved compensation plan.
• Length of the work year and hours of employment established by the School Board.

Skills

• Ability to maintain a safe and enriching environment for school-age children.
• Knowledge of child care components and practices.
• Basic computer skills.

Location Preferences/Additional Information

• New hires will be hired at the minimum of the assigned salary range.
