Grant-funded position. Service/Maintenance classification. Department: Child Care Centers. Location: Union Avenue Campus.
About the role
The Child Care Aide 2 works under close supervision of the Assistant Director and Lead Teacher. The Child Care Aide 2 is responsible for implementing program goals and classroom objectives, and performing related work as required for children six (6) weeks to five (5) years old.
Responsibilities
- Assist in directing and directs activities for children in the program
- Assist with supervision of large and small groups of children
- Assist children with self-help skills
- Work with individual children on specific tasks
- Help in planning and developing each day’s activities
- Assist with the preparation and presentation of educational materials
- Regularly record, evaluate, assess and update class attendance, behavior, development, etc.
- Complete all related trainings
- Attend seminars and parent related activities
- Assist with serving meals and snacks
- May perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Pass background check
- Obtain a physical prior to employment
- Applicant is required to obtain CDA within 6 months
Qualifications
- Child Development Associate (CDA) Credential / Early Childhood Certificate / 18 Credit Hours of Early Childhood Courses
- Knowledge of recreational activities associated with creative play
Skills
- Knowledge of instructional methods, materials and program operations for children six (6) weeks to five (5) years
- Knowledge of psychological and biological needs of children
- Ability to make decisions both within or without guidance or established procedure
- Ability to react quickly and calmly in stressful situations
- Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions
- Ability to establish and maintain an effective working relationship with the public, children and other employees
Physical Demands / Working Conditions
- Ability to lift children up to 40 pounds if needed
