Duties

CYP Assistant (CY 1702-01/02)

• Provide appropriate specialized developmental care and instruction for children and youth
• Provide guidance, assistance, and mentoring for CY Program Assistants
• Assist with child arrival and departure, diapering, feeding, toileting, resting
• Develop and assist with games and learning activities
• Observe and evaluate development levels and maintain records
• Perform other duties as assigned

CYP Leader (CY 1702-02)

• Provide appropriate specialized developmental care and instruction for children and youth
• Provide guidance, assistance, and mentoring for CY Program Assistants
• Perform duties grouped into categories including mentor, curriculum, indoor and outdoor environment, interactions and relationships, supervision of children and youth, parent and employee communication, assessment, and compliance
• Perform other duties as assigned

CYP Cook (NA 7404-08)

• Perform various tasks in food service preparation
• Prepare, cook, season, and portion food for all meals following standardized recipes at various levels of difficulty
• Monitor temperatures and steam pressures, evaluate food condition at frequent intervals, cook food evenly to prevent uneven cooking and drying out
• Modify recipes for ingredient quantities, number of servings, and size of equipment available
• Perform other duties as assigned

CYP Food Service Worker (NA 7408-04)

• Assist in food preparation: peeling vegetables; cutting, sorting, and washing; assembling sandwiches; measuring and weighing ingredients
• Stock food service carts with utensils, plates, bowls, food and beverages for family style dining
• Wrap, arrange, and package items for serving to children and youth
• Clean serving carts, food preparation areas, cupboards, drawers, and dishwashing areas
• Perform heavy-duty cleaning: ceilings, exhaust hoods, under/behind kitchen equipment (including moving equipment), floors and walls with powered equipment, walk-in refrigerators and freezers, sanitizing garbage room
• Label and date all items in refrigerators and freezers, store leftovers per sanitation standards
• Perform other duties as assigned

CYP Custodian (NA 3566-02)

• Perform custodial and housekeeping services to ensure center cleanliness and standards
• Clean: sweep, mop, bathroom and kitchen fixtures, change paper towel rolls, windows (inside and outside), dust and wax floors and furniture, empty and wash trashcans
• Inspect grounds, remove trash and debris, notify supervisor of safety hazards
• Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

• Must be 18 years of age or older
• Complete required training certificates and maintain certifications or credentials required by Federal, State, and/or national accreditation institutions used as part of DoD's Child and Youth Programs
• Pass all applicable records and background checks
• Undergo pre-employment and random drug testing; positive drug test or failure to submit is basis for removal
• Pass pre-employment physical, provide evidence of immunization, be free of communicable diseases, and obtain appropriate immunizations
• Employment contingent upon proof of education if not provided at time of application

Qualifications

CYP Leader (CY 1702-02)

• Must have one of the following:
  • Completion of DOD Standardized Module Training AND 12 months Experience at the CY-II (GSE-04) Level
  • Child Development Associate (CDA) credential or Military School-Age (MSA) credential AND 12 months Experience at the CY-II (GSE-04) Level
  • A minimum of a 2-year degree in Youth Development, Child Development or related field (Recreation, Youth Recreation, Physical Education, Elementary Education, Secondary Education, Early Childhood Education, Psychology, Social Work, Home Economics with emphasis in Human Development, or other appropriate degrees) AND 12 months Experience at the CY-II (GSE-04) Level
• Knowledge of developmentally appropriate programs for children from six to 18 years of age
• Must possess maturity and judgment and be capable of handling emergencies
• Skill to provide leadership, mentoring and guidance to CY Program Assistants
• Ability to develop curriculum outlines and lesson plans
• Organizational skills for program planning and scheduling
• Able to speak, read and write English and possess strong interpersonal skills

CYP Assistant (CY 1702-01/02)

• GSE-02 Entry Level: Must be 18 years of age, high school graduate or equivalent (GED), able to lift up to 40 pounds, and pass required security and health checks. Functions as a trainee assisting higher-level employees.
• GSE-03 Intermediate Level: In addition to GSE-02 requirements, must have six (6) months' experience working with children or youth in a child or youth setting AND completion of child abuse modules and modules 1-3 of the Department of the Navy (DON) Standardized Module Training.
