About the role

This position provides appropriate developmental care and instruction for children and youth in CYS programs. The incumbent actively supervises and accounts for the whereabouts and safety of children and youth during various activities.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise and account for children and youth during daily routines, indoor and outdoor activities, field trips, outings, and special events.
  • Implement planned, developmentally appropriate activities, schedules, and routines using prepared curriculum, activity plans, and materials.
  • Aid in arranging for or serving appropriate snacks or meals.
  • Identify and respond to emergency situations including evacuations, child/youth illness, and physical and emotional needs.

Requirements

  • U.S. Citizenship or Non-U.S. National residency for at least 3 years prior to start.
  • Age 18 or older at time of appointment.
  • One year probationary period may be required.
  • Satisfactory completion of E-Verify check.
  • Favorably adjudicated background checks are required.
  • Position subject to immunization requirements.
  • Pass a pre-employment physical and provide evidence of immunization and be free from communicable disease.
  • Lift and carry up to 40 lbs., walk, bend, stoop, and stand on a routine basis.
  • Visual and auditory capabilities to supervise children and youth, comply with sight and sound supervision requirements, and provide immediate responses when applicable.
  • Report all suspected incidents of child abuse/neglect.
  • Complete all DoD and Service training requirements within specified time, including orientation, initial, and annual ongoing training requirements, and any required certifications.
  • Pass CPR and First Aid certifications.
  • May work an uncommon tour of duty to include evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Duties may involve working both indoors and outdoors.
  • Occasional indoor and outdoor field trips may be required.

Qualifications

  • Entry Level (CY-01): Must be at least 18 years of age, hold a high school diploma or equivalent, and communicate effectively in English, both orally and in writing.

Education

  • At minimum a high school diploma or General Equivalency Diploma (GED).
  • Proof of education is required at the time of application.
  • All education documents must be in English or have a translated copy provided.
