Child and Youth Coordinator

About the role

We are seeking a Child and Youth Coordinator to join our Family Hope Center Program. You will raise awareness for the Buckner Family Hope Center and inspire greater self-confidence, aspiration, and resilience in youth and children. Help develop happy, thriving, and resilient children and youth who can contribute positively to society.

Responsibilities

• Discuss needs of children and youth with Family Coach. Based on needs identified by the families, bring appropriate empowerment resources through networking and engaging local agencies and church volunteers.
• Assist youth and children in accessing on-site programs and other community services and referrals, accommodating varied levels of capability to understand and meet eligibility requirements.
• Develop and manage a system to coordinate on-site and off-site programs and aid communication among program sponsors and collaborators.
• Assist in developing children and youth opportunities for leadership and development, including program enrollments, school enrollment, and other services.
• Develop professional relationships with institutions and agencies providing education, living skills training, and children’s development programs.
• Build relationships with community and social service organizations to guide community assessments, program development, and implementation of new programs.
• Assess needs and concerns of youth and children; research and recruit local programs addressing identified needs.
• Coordinate regular events at the Family Hope Center, including sports camps, youth leadership, children’s camps, Vacation Bible Schools, and children empowerment events.
• Organize, implement, and coordinate a comprehensive children and youth program in conjunction with area schools.
• Maintain a master calendar of all volunteer and campus activities for youth and children; distribute notices of activities and volunteer projects to applicable program staff.
• Coordinate the acquisition and distribution of in-kind donations, including tickets to special events and items to offset budgeted expenses. Document all in-kind donations following established procedures and write thank-you notes when appropriate.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in a related field required.
• Minimum two years of prior related experience required.
• Minimum one year of prior experience providing community-based services, youth, and children programs.
• Proficient ability to speak, read, and write English and Spanish professionally.
• Willingness to take CPR, First Aid, and specialized activity training.
• Proficient knowledge of and/or work experience using youth and children community resources; awareness of community resources, including social service and health providers.
• Proficient working knowledge and understanding of applicable regulatory standards and requirements governing programs and services.
• Ability to drive assigned vehicle(s) or personal vehicle with appropriate state license, following all laws; must provide proof of liability insurance and be eligible for Buckner’s insurance policy. Must be age 21 or older to drive on behalf of Buckner.
• Ability to use up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force continuously to move objects and/or people.
• Ability to walk, stand, and sit, sometimes for prolonged periods of time.
