About the role

As a Therapist at Blackbird Health, you’ll play a vital role in delivering high-quality virtual and in-person therapy to children, adolescents, young adults, and their caregivers. You’ll build meaningful relationships with patients and families, taking the time to understand their needs, support engagement in treatment, and educate them on therapeutic approaches that foster long-term progress. Working alongside an interdisciplinary team, you’ll be empowered to make a meaningful impact in the lives of young patients and their families through compassionate, evidence-based care.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver high-quality virtual and in-person therapy sessions to children, adolescents, and young adults ages 2–26, as well as the caregivers who support them.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with patients and families, understanding their needs and supporting engagement in treatment.
  • Educate patients and families on therapeutic approaches that foster long-term progress.
  • Collaborate with an interdisciplinary team to provide comprehensive care that reflects how each child’s brain, body, and behavior work together.
  • Support patients and families through the entire treatment process, from initial assessment to ongoing care.

Requirements

  • Active Virginia license: LCSW, LPC, LPC-R, LMFT, LMSW, or SiSW.
  • 1+ year of experience with children and adolescent patients.
  • 1+ year of telehealth or virtual setting experience.
  • Available after 3pm ET weekdays and/or weekends.

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Social Work, Clinical Psychology, Counseling, or related field.
  • Current licensure in Virginia.
  • Experience working with children and adolescents.
  • Experience in a virtual or telehealth setting.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Skills

  • Strong clinical skills and knowledge of evidence-based practices.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with a multidisciplinary team.
  • Knowledge of child development and mental health disorders.

Pay

$40,000 USD - $105,000 USD based on experience and qualifications.

Schedule

Multiple employment tracks are available:

  • 1099 Contractor: LPC-R or Resident in Counseling, Pay: $75-$85 per session, Minimum 10 hrs/week, All Core hours: after 3pm weekdays and/or weekends.
  • W2 Part-Time (20 hrs/week): LPC-R or Resident in Counseling, LPC-R / Pay: $40,000 base + $65/session beyond base caseload, 20 hours per week, (17 direct care hours), All Core hours: after 3pm weekdays and/or weekends.
