About the role
Provide inpatient child and adolescent psychiatric care at a Level I facility in Michigan, supporting continuity during evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Responsibilities
- Offer inpatient psychiatric coverage for pediatric patients, primarily via telephone call during weekday evenings and in-house on weekends and holidays.
- Manage pediatric psychiatric conditions requiring inpatient care, with variable caseloads and patient lengths of stay.
- Collaborate with on-site APP and MD to ensure quality patient care and clinical operations.
- Respond to restraint-related calls during night shifts; participate in virtual consults during daytime hours when applicable.
Requirements
- Licensed MD with the ability to provide inpatient psychiatric services for children and adolescents.
- Comfortable working independently during non-coverage hours and coordinating with on-site staff.
- Strong communication skills for phone and in-person interactions.
Key Duties
- Provide psychiatric evaluations, treatment, and follow-up for pediatric inpatients.
- Maintain documentation and ensure adherence to facility protocols.
- Support clinical team operations and patient safety during assigned shifts.
