Child/Adolescent Psychiatrist

About the role

Full-time contract position with optional extension years. Hybrid schedule with 50% or more in-person required. Realistic start dates: November 2 or November 9.

Responsibilities

• Provide psychiatric care to children and adolescents, including those with adverse childhood experiences, ADHD, anxiety, depression, autism spectrum needs, eating disorders (e.g., bulimia, anorexia), and occasional crisis intervention (e.g., self-harm).
• Collaborate with pediatric clinics to address mental health needs efficiently, including follow-up visits.
• Serve patients from the Riverside Indian School.
• Conduct new patient evaluations (hourly) and medication management visits (approximately 30 minutes for stable refills).
• Document patient encounters in an EHR similar to VA RPMS, transitioning to Cerner.

Schedule

• Clinic hours: 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM or 5:00 PM.
• Last appointment of the day typically scheduled around 4:00 PM.
• 2–4 hours per week allotted for notes and administrative tasks.

Patient volume

• 12–16 patients per day.
• Cancellation rate approximately 20%.
• Transportation challenges for in-house visits may limit patient access.

Support staff

• Social workers and behavioral health technicians available.

Requirements

• Current unrestricted license to practice medicine in the United States.
• Successful completion of an accredited psychiatry residency program.
• Board certified or board eligible in psychiatry.
• Ability to be credentialed and privileged at the Oklahoma City Area healthcare facility and join the medical staff.
• Documentation of Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS).
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) required if working in the Emergency Room, ICU, or as a hospitalist.
• Current DEA license and State CDS license (if required by the DEA).
• Documentation of past insurance carriers and contact information for the past 5 years.
• Maintain current professional liability insurance coverage: $1 million per occurrence and $3 million aggregate per provider.
• Documentation of rubella and measles immunity, negative tuberculosis skin tests, and CDC-recommended vaccines for healthcare workers.
• Maintain standards of personal hygiene and grooming consistent with the expectations of the on-site Clinical Director.

Experience

• Minimum 5 years of post-residency work experience, including at least 2 years in pediatrics.
