About the Role

The CTO will own technology strategy, architecture and engineering standards across the Group. This is a technical leadership role for someone who can operate across multiple businesses while remaining close to systems, architecture and engineering execution.

What you will be doing

  • Own architecture and major technical decisions across group products and platforms.
  • Review critical systems, architecture, infrastructure and code directly.
  • Set engineering standards across reliability, security, performance, testing and code quality.
  • Identify technical debt and architecture constraints and drive their resolution.
  • Improve engineering productivity, development speed and production reliability.
  • Decide where technology and infrastructure should be shared across Group businesses.
  • Recruit and assess senior engineers, technical leads and engineering leaders.

What you will need

  • Deep software engineering background with experience building and scaling production systems.
  • Strong knowledge of backend systems, APIs, databases, cloud infrastructure and distributed systems.
  • Experience making architecture decisions across multiple products or engineering teams.
  • Strong technical judgement and ability to challenge engineering decisions at implementation level.
  • Capable of building world-class engineering teams.
  • Still technically hands-on - able to review code, architecture, incidents and difficult engineering problems directly.
