About the role

The Chief Strategy & Growth Officer (CSGO) serves as a principal advisor to the Founder & CEO and one of the organization's most influential executive leaders. The CSGO will help architect the future of Mentor A Promise.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the development and execution of annual strategic plans, three-year strategic roadmaps, five-year organizational vision plans, enterprise priorities, organizational objectives, and strategic growth frameworks.
  • Ensure every major organizational decision supports long-term mission impact.
  • Serve as a trusted strategic advisor to the Founder & CEO, supporting executive decision-making, organizational prioritization, opportunity assessment, risk evaluation, strategic communication, and leadership alignment.
  • Provide clear recommendations that balance mission, growth, sustainability, and execution.
  • Lead evaluation of program expansion opportunities, geographic growth opportunities, strategic partnerships, new initiatives and ventures, innovation opportunities, institutional investments, and emerging service models.
  • Build frameworks to determine what to start, scale, improve, and sunset.
  • Partner with executive leadership to strengthen cross-divisional collaboration, reduce duplication and inefficiencies, align priorities across divisions, improve decision-making systems, and strengthen organizational coordination.
  • Develop and strengthen relationships with schools, universities, foundations, government agencies, corporate partners, research institutions, nonprofit organizations, and community-based organizations to help position MAP as a trusted leader within the youth development and housing stability ecosystem.
  • Lead environmental scanning and future-focused planning involving education trends, youth development innovations, housing instability research, public policy developments, technology advancements, workforce trends, philanthropic trends, and emerging nonprofit practices.
  • Partner with PromiseMeasure to define enterprise KPIs, develop executive dashboards, measure strategic progress, evaluate organizational effectiveness, monitor long-term outcomes, and support evidence-based decision-making.
  • Support the Board of Directors through strategic planning retreats, board reports, growth and opportunity assessments, long-term planning discussions, and organizational effectiveness reviews.

Qualifications

  • Helpful experience may include strategic planning, organizational development, executive leadership, management consulting, nonprofit leadership, systems change initiatives, innovation strategy, public policy, research and evaluation, partnership development, and systems change.
  • Strong candidates often demonstrate executive-level strategic thinking, exceptional systems thinking, strong communication and facilitation skills, research and analytical expertise, organizational leadership experience, ability to align vision with execution, and strong judgment and decision-making.
  • Advanced education or equivalent executive experience is highly valued.
