Chief Risk Officer

For our client, we are seeking a Chief Risk Officer to join the team of a leader in the Finance & Insurance space. This executive will lead enterprise-wide risk management for a regulated financial institution, with a particular focus on credit, compliance, model, and operational risk. The role will partner closely with business leaders, compliance teams, and the Board to strengthen governance, support new products and services, and ensure risk practices remain aligned with regulatory expectations. In addition, this leader will serve as a key contact for regulators and help drive effective oversight of BSA/AML and other critical risk functions. Location: Remote - US based candidates only, no visa sponsorship available Compensation: $160,000 – $200,000 annually Responsibilities Define and implement enterprise-wide risk management strategies and policies. Identify, assess, and report on risks across the bank, ensuring compliance with policies. Monitor emerging risks related to new products and services, aligning with regulatory expectations. Develop a model governance framework with independent validation. Serve as the primary relationship manager for regulatory examinations and inquiries. Oversee compliance and BSA/AML risk management functions, ensuring operational effectiveness. Communicate risk elements and issues to the Board and business line management. Qualifications 15-20+ years in banking or financial services, with a focus on risk management, credit, compliance, or audit. 7-10 years in a senior risk leadership role at a regulated financial institution. Experience with federal banking regulators and the examination process. Deep knowledge of enterprise risk management frameworks and banking regulations.
