The Problem

Severe mental illness affects over 15 million adults in the United States. Conditions such as schizophrenia, schizoaffective disorder, bipolar I, and treatment-resistant depression are the ones the rest of healthcare has systematically failed to build for.

This problem is unique because the tools to solve it do not exist. There are no established clinical protocols, measurement science, precision medicine, or technology to deliver coordinated longitudinal outpatient care for this population. This is a frontier problem, and it requires frontier science and care delivery to solve.

We are developing all of these tools. The care, the science, and the technology.

About the role

This role sits at the center of Amae's leadership team, reporting to Co-Founder & CEO. You will split your time between internal strategic work (special projects, KPI reporting, executive communications, strategic planning) and external growth work (partnerships pipeline, health plan/health system BD, and commercial materials).

You will navigate high-priority, sensitive business initiatives across both of our co-founders' agendas, operating as a trusted generalist who can move fluidly between the two.

Who We Are

Amae Health is a Series B, venture-backed Public Benefit Corporation delivering specialty outpatient care for people with severe mental illness through high-acuity, in-person clinics nationwide.

Our integrated model brings psychiatry, therapy, primary care, dietitians, and community support together under one roof. Leading health systems—including NewYork-Presbyterian, Cedars-Sinai, Mass General Brigham, Novant Health, and CommonSpirit—partner with us to expand this level of care.

Alongside care delivery, we are building the science and technology the field has long lacked—proprietary clinical protocols, novel measurement, and an AI-driven data platform designed for severe mental illness.

What You'll Do

  • Strategy & Executive Support:
    • Act as an in-house consultant and strategic advisor to the CEO, CGO, and senior leadership team
    • Lead development of the long-term strategy and annual strategic plan in collaboration with the C-Suite
    • Develop and maintain a KPI dashboard and high-level performance metrics
    • Draft and refine strategic communications, memos, and board/investor materials for the founders
  • Partnerships & Business Development:
    • Own the BD pipeline: research prospective health plan and health system partners, identify key contacts, and manage outreach from first touch through active conversation
    • Prepare decks, one-pagers, and data analyses for partnership meetings, translating Amae's model and outcomes into compelling external narratives
    • Coordinate due diligence, follow-up, and relationship management across the pipeline so nothing falls through the cracks
    • Track and synthesize market intelligence on payer and health system trends
  • Sales & Revenue Support:
    • Support execution of Amae's sales playbook for new market entry
    • Identify and help qualify new revenue opportunities, from referral partnerships to value-based care contracts
    • Maintain CRM hygiene and pipeline reporting so leadership has a clear view of what's in motion
  • Special Projects & Operations:
    • Execute and manage cross-functional strategic projects as a self-starter, from market expansion analysis to grant applications to competitive landscaping
    • Establish a centralized insights/analytics process to power decisions and strategy
    • Keep workstreams for both founders running smoothly — scheduling, prep, follow-through, and accountability
    • Work cross-functionally with clinical, operations, and finance teams to ensure commercial commitments are grounded in operational reality

What We're Looking For

  • 3+ years of experience in consulting, investment banking, investing (VC/PE), growth/BD, or a fast-moving startup — with a track record of owning real work and driving it forward
  • Strategic and flexible approach to business problem-solving; comfortable moving between internal strategy work and external-facing BD work
  • Clear, strong communicator — writes well, thinks in structure, shows up prepared
  • Hightly organized and reliable — tracks details and follow-ups across multiple concurrent workstreams without things slipping
  • Intellectually curious with high intellectual horsepower; an effective thought partner to founders and senior leaders
  • High ownership and follow-through; closes loops and takes responsibility for outcomes
  • High EQ, low ego — collaborative across teams and levels, gets things done through people who don't report to them
  • Genuine passion for Amae's mission

Compensation & Benefits

Compensation includes a base salary of $100,000 - $165,000 (based on experience) plus equity ownership, giving you a meaningful stake in Amae's growth. Total compensation includes comprehensive medical/dental/vision, unlimited PTO, parental leave, and programs built around employee well-being. We’ll share specifics during the interview process.
