About the role

The Upper Makefield Township Police Department seeks a Chief of Police to lead a full-service department with 18 sworn officers and one civilian employee. The Department is accredited by the Pennsylvania Law Enforcement Accreditation Commission and receives substantial financial support for training and professional development.

Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership and direction to the Department's personnel
  • Develop and maintain effective relationships with Township officials, other staff, stakeholders, political leaders, and community representatives
  • Develop, inspire, motivate, mentor, and challenge Department personnel to achieve their highest level of job performance and professional development
  • Foster and maintain a high level of professional and ethical conduct and public service among members of the Department
  • Lead the Department in providing outstanding service to the community

Requirements

  • A minimum of 15 years of progressively responsible law-enforcement experience
  • A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution or equivalent combination of training and experience
  • Significant knowledge of contemporary policing
  • Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with various stakeholders
  • Ability to foster and maintain a high level of professional and ethical conduct and public service among members of the Department

Benefits

The starting annual salary is $160,000, plus generous benefits. The Township offers an exceptional quality of life in one of the most desirable counties in the United States with a highly ranked school system. 40% of the Township's area is in permanent conservation.
