About the role

The Ridgefield Police Department seeks a Chief Officer to lead a collaborative, community-focused and fast-growing city. The ideal candidate will bring experience in law enforcement and a commitment to making a positive impact in a vibrant community.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee all aspects of the police department, including policy development, personnel management, and community policing initiatives.
  • Ensure the department adheres to state and federal laws while fostering a culture of transparency and accountability.
  • Develop and implement strategies to enhance public safety and crime prevention within the city limits.
  • Communicate effectively with the community, media, and other stakeholders to promote understanding and support for police services.
  • Manage the department’s budget and resources to ensure efficient operations and meet departmental goals.
  • Collaborate with other city departments and agencies to coordinate efforts and address community needs.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in criminal justice, law enforcement, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 10 years of progressively responsible law enforcement experience, including at least 5 years as a supervisor or manager.
  • Current Washington State Peace Officer Certification.
  • Proven leadership skills, including the ability to inspire and motivate a team.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build trust and rapport with diverse groups.
  • Experience with community policing and problem-solving techniques.
  • Knowledge of local, state, and federal laws relevant to law enforcement.

Qualifications

  • Strong background in public safety and law enforcement.
  • Experience with budget management and resource allocation.
  • Effective negotiation and conflict resolution skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Passion for serving the community and promoting public safety.

Pay

The salary range for this position is $120,000 - $150,000 annually, depending on qualifications and experience.

Schedule
