About the role
The Ridgefield Police Department seeks a Chief Officer to lead a collaborative, community-focused and fast-growing city. The ideal candidate will bring experience in law enforcement and a commitment to making a positive impact in a vibrant community.Responsibilities
- Oversee all aspects of the police department, including policy development, personnel management, and community policing initiatives.
- Ensure the department adheres to state and federal laws while fostering a culture of transparency and accountability.
- Develop and implement strategies to enhance public safety and crime prevention within the city limits.
- Communicate effectively with the community, media, and other stakeholders to promote understanding and support for police services.
- Manage the department’s budget and resources to ensure efficient operations and meet departmental goals.
- Collaborate with other city departments and agencies to coordinate efforts and address community needs.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in criminal justice, law enforcement, or a related field.
- Minimum of 10 years of progressively responsible law enforcement experience, including at least 5 years as a supervisor or manager.
- Current Washington State Peace Officer Certification.
- Proven leadership skills, including the ability to inspire and motivate a team.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build trust and rapport with diverse groups.
- Experience with community policing and problem-solving techniques.
- Knowledge of local, state, and federal laws relevant to law enforcement.
Qualifications
- Strong background in public safety and law enforcement.
