About the role
When our guests arrive, we want everything to be in excellent condition. The goal of our Maintenance team is to help our guests feel safe and cared for! As a Chief of Maintenance, your attention to detail and ability to lead by example ensures that our guests at each location have a comfortable and problem-free stay.
Responsibilities
- Hire, train, supervise, motivate, counsel and recognize the maintenance staff at each hotel.
- Oversee daily operations, sustainability programs, inventory, ordering, and scheduling all within a set department budget at each hotel.
- Perform basic repairs and preventative maintenance in all areas of the hotels and inspect work completed by others to ensure quality and standards are met.
- Troubleshoot various technical devices such as key card systems, internet equipment, television equipment, etc.
- Oversee safety programs and key control at each hotel.
- Greet and assist guests with all requests.
- Proactively garner relationships with long-term and repeat guests to develop loyalty and maintain a high level of satisfaction.
- Support the goals of each hotel through teamwork and collaboration with all departments.
- Maintain a warm and friendly demeanor at all times.
- Effectively communicate both verbally and in writing with all levels of employees and guests in an attentive, friendly, courteous, and service-oriented manner.
- Multitask and prioritize departmental functions to meet deadlines.
- Attend all hotel-required meetings and trainings.
- Participate in M.O.D. coverage as required.
- Maintain high standards of personal appearance and grooming, including wearing nametags.
- Comply with InnVentures Standards and regulations to encourage safe and efficient hotel operations.
- Maximize efforts toward productivity, identify problem areas, and assist in implementing solutions.
- Handle problems effectively, including anticipating, preventing, identifying, and solving them as necessary.
- Understand and evaluate complex information and data from various sources to meet appropriate objectives.
- Maintain confidentiality of information.
- Perform other duties as requested by management.
Requirements
- At least 3 years of progressive facilities management experience in a hotel or a related field; or a 2-year college degree and 1 year of related management experience.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- HVAC, electrical, plumbing, boiler operations, and general maintenance skills required.
- Long hours sometimes required.
- Heavy work – Exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects.
- Must be effective at listening to, understanding, and clarifying concerns raised by employees and guests.
