Chief Nurse Executive
This position is a Limited-Term appointment for 24 months, with the possibility of becoming permanent. If the position becomes permanent, the incumbent will serve a one-year probationary period.
Effective July 1, 2025, the Personal Leave Program 2025 (PLP 2025) requires each full-time employee in Bargaining Unit 17, and related Excluded, Exempt, and Statutory Exempt employees, to have their base salary reduced by 3% and receive 5 PLP 2025 leave credits monthly through June 2027. Part-time employees are subject to the same conditions on a prorated basis, while permanent intermittent employees are subject to the conditions based on the number of hours worked in the pay period.
About the Role
Under the direct supervision of the Chief Executive Officer, this position serves as the highest-ranking nurse manager within a California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation (CDCR) adult institution. The incumbent assumes comprehensive 24-hour and 7-day (24/7) accountability for the operations and delivery of all patient care services throughout a CDCR institution or designated institutions.
Responsibilities
- Oversee and manage the operations and delivery of all patient care services within the institution.
- Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships within the department, other governmental agencies, healthcare partners, and communities.
- Promote safety, wellness, and human dignity while fostering positive change for those who live and work within the institution.
- Ensure the highest level of healthcare is provided to a diverse correctional population, including medical, dental, nursing, mental health, and pharmacy services.
