Chief Medical Officer, Essence Healthcare

About the role

For our client, we are seeking a Chief Medical Officer to join the team of a leader in the Healthcare space. This executive will lead clinical strategy and medical leadership across the health plan, with a strong focus on Medicare Advantage and population health. The role will partner closely with physicians, medical directors, and operational leaders to improve quality, manage total cost of care, and support value-based care initiatives. The right leader will bring both clinical credibility and the ability to guide cross-functional teams through growth, compliance, and transformation. Location: Remote - US based candidates only, no visa sponsorship available.

Responsibilities

• Oversee and develop a cross-functional team of leaders
• Coordinate all clinical aspects of the health plan
• Manage medical costs effectively
• Facilitate communication through medical director meetings
• Build relationships with physicians and medical groups
• Align physician incentives and quality measures
• Direct medical management and compliance activities
• Collaborate with the organization’s Chief Medical Officer on clinical strategy
• Act as an internal consultant for clinical development projects
• Support accountable care initiatives and transformation efforts
• Contribute to clinical thought leadership through presentations and articles

Qualifications

• MD or D.O. degree, plus Board Certification
• Current, unrestricted medical license
• 15+ years of relevant experience
• 7+ years of people, program, or project leadership experience
• Demonstrated experience in a successful clinical practice
• Substantial Medicare Advantage experience
• Proven health system, health plan, or capitated provider experience with exposure to managing total cost of care, quality, and documentation
• Deep understanding of population health and managed care

Pay

$238,300 – $350,575 annually
