About the Role

The Chief Inspector/Quality Control reports to the Accountable Manager for the overall operation of the Quality Control Department and will be instrumental in returning to service components the shop works on. This role involves directing, planning, and laying out the details of component inspections, witnessing acceptance testing, and helping establish methods and procedures to comply with all applicable regulations, manufacturer's specifications, customer and industry standards, and guidance. The Chief Inspector may be delegated authority to edit and refine the shop’s operating manuals, including the Repair Station Quality Manual (RSQM), Training Manual (STM), Forms Manual, and various supplements. The Quality Manager will also communicate with FAA and customer Quality Representatives as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Train, direct, supervise, and assist all inspection personnel performing work under the Repair Station Certificate (25%).
  • Witness and sign off on acceptance testing (25%).
  • Ensure all inspections are properly performed and recorded, and all records are properly executed before final approval and return to service for articles maintained or altered by the Repair Station (15%).
  • Ensure paperwork is completed, approved, and filed in accordance with applicable procedures and instructions (15%).
  • Coordinate with the Repair Station Accountable Manager to resolve conflicts or counter-demands on inspection authorization (5%).
  • Act as primary liaison with the Federal Aviation Administration (10%).
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the manager (5%).

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent (required).
  • Associates, bachelor’s, or higher degree in Quality, Engineering, or Aviation-related field (preferred).
  • FAA Issued Mechanic’s certificate with Airframe and Powerplant Ratings; or recent possession of a Repairman’s Certificate doing similar work; or necessary experience and qualifications to be recommended for a Repairman’s Certificate upon hire.
  • 10-15 years’ experience working in a FAA Part 145 Repair Station.
  • Minimum of 4 years’ experience in a leadership role.
  • Experience with Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office tools (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Experience using a Repair Station ERP system (Quantum Control preferred).
  • Ability to map and document processes.
  • Strong problem-solving skills in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to interpret and apply highly technical regulations and regulatory guidance.
  • Comfortable drafting and revising technical procedures and manuals and ensuring their proper implementation.
  • Self-motivated, mature, and able to finish assignments in a timely, complete, and professional manner.

Pay

$120,000–$175,000 yearly salary.
