Job Details

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to lead our financial operations. The ideal candidate will have an extensive background in construction, capital management, cash management, risk management, leadership, forecasting, budgeting, GAAP, NetSuite, ERP, AIA billing, financial management, monthly reporting, payroll, job costing, and Excel.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee all financial operations and direct corporate financial planning and structure.
  • Cook up, analyze, and report the financial performance to Management and Board of Directors (financial performance, projections, and other special projects as required).
  • Prepare short and long-term financial forecasts of financial performance for use with internal management and external parties.
  • Oversee audit and tax functions, coordinate activities with outside audit firms and review firms' performance.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain a comprehensive job cost system.
  • Direct and analyze studies of general economic, business, and financial conditions and their impact on the organization's policies and operations.
  • Ensure compliance with the financial procedures and systems of the organization.
  • Evaluate and recommend business partnering opportunities.
  • Develop and implement finance, accounting, billing, and auditing procedures.
  • Establish and maintain appropriate internal control safeguards.
  • Interact with other managers to provide consultative support to planning initiatives through financial and management information analyses, reports, and recommendations.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field. MBA, CPA, or equivalent experience preferred.
  • 5+ years of experience in a senior financial managerial position in the construction industry.
  • Advanced computer skills, including proficiency in MS Office and Microsoft Dynamics, NetSuite, or similar financial reporting software.
  • Exceptional knowledge of finance, accounting, budgeting, cost accounting, and cost control principles, and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Demonstrated leadership ability, confidence, and executive presence – ability to motivate staff.
  • Excellent analytical and abstract reasoning skills, plus excellent organization skills.
  • Experience in a senior financial management role, partnering with executive staff, resulting in the development and implementation of creative financial management strategies.
  • Significant experience in or knowledge of nonprofit accounting, including sophisticated fund and grant accounting, compliance, and reporting.
  • Deep knowledge and understanding of the AIA billing process.
  • Strong experience in cash management and risk management.
  • Exceptional negotiation skills and experience with contract and legal.
  • Solid experience coordinating audit activities and managing reporting, budget development and analysis, accounts payable and receivable, general ledger, payroll, and accounting for investments.
  • A proven track record of success facilitating progressive organizational change and development within a growing organization.
  • Excellent judgment and creative problem-solving skills, including negotiation and conflict resolution.
