Responsibilities
- Maintains and controls accounts receivables.
- Closely oversees Business Office functions to meet cash collection goals and ensure proper net revenue statement.
- Facilitates weekly A/R meetings with CEO and Business Office Manager to discuss results and address weaknesses.
- Affects relationships between Business Office, Intake and Utilization Review departments to enhance patient revenue.
- Improves hospital profitability by continually monitoring costs, especially staffing related to patient volume.
- Maintains and monitors payor mix and length of stay to optimize reimbursement.
- Negotiates contract terms with third-party payers.
- Develops and implements new programs, contracts, and analyzes their estimated outcomes.
- Evaluates the success of implemented programs, including physician arrangements.
- Develops and monitors policies and procedures aligned with generally accepted accounting principles and corporate guidelines.
- Prepares monthly financial statements, financial packages, and other informational reports/analyses.
- Performs account analysis, variance analysis, journal entries, and internal controls to ensure accurate financial statements.
- Provides required reporting and reconciliations for Reimbursement, Tax, Auditors, and other departments.
- Prepares annual budgets in collaboration with UHS standards.
- Reviews and discusses prior financial results with management and department heads to highlight future needs and trends.
- Tailors hospital needs to UHS objectives.
- Performs other duties as assigned/required.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in a financial leadership role in a healthcare setting.
- Minimum education requirement of a bachelor’s degree, master’s degree preferred.
- Working knowledge of hospital financial operations, federal and local tax regulations.
- Knowledge of all business office, accounting, payroll, and other administrative office operations.
- Skills in interpreting financial analysis, preparing schedules and reports, using electronic spreadsheets, and manipulating data within proprietary and acquired databases.
- 2% travel.
