Founded in 1990 by Malki and Kalman Samuels, Shalva grew out of their personal journey raising their son, Yossi, who was left blind, deaf, and severely disabled as an infant. Facing firsthand the isolation, uncertainty, and lack of support available to families of children with disabilities, they set out to create an organization where no family would have to navigate those challenges alone.

About the role

Shalva is seeking a Chief Executive Officer (CEO) to lead its mission of providing transformative care for individuals with disabilities and empowering their families. The ideal candidate will be a visionary leader with extensive experience in disability advocacy and social services, committed to advancing full social inclusion.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee all aspects of Shalva’s operations, including strategic planning, resource allocation, and program development.
  • Develop and implement policies that promote social inclusion and accessibility for individuals with disabilities and their families.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with government agencies, non-profit partners, and other stakeholders to secure funding and resources.
  • Lead fundraising efforts to support Shalva’s programs and initiatives.
  • Ensure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements related to disability services.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (e.g., disability studies, public policy, social work).
  • At least 10 years of experience in disability advocacy and social services.
  • Proven track record of successful leadership and management in nonprofit organizations.
  • Experience in fundraising and grant writing.
  • Strong understanding of disability rights and social inclusion issues.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
