About the role

The Arc Westchester is the largest agency in Westchester County supporting children, teens, and adults with developmental disabilities, including individuals on the autism spectrum, and their families. Through a comprehensive continuum of services, The Arc Westchester works every day to foster independence, support personal goals, and strengthen community participation. With more than 700 dedicated employees supporting nearly 2,000 people across Westchester County and a 2026 budget of $66 million, The Arc Westchester is widely recognized for the quality of its services, its financial stewardship, and its leadership within the broader intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) field.

Responsibilities

  • Leadership and Strategic Judgment: Set and advance organizational strategy, oversee execution of the strategic plan, ensure alignment with mission, values, regulatory requirements, and strategic goals.
  • Service Delivery: Ensure high-quality, person-centered services across a complex service portfolio.
  • Organizational Sustainability: Ensure the organization remains well positioned to respond to emerging opportunities and challenges.
  • Oversight: Oversee a complex, multi-service organization with a significant geographic footprint, a large and diverse workforce, and a funding structure heavily reliant on public reimbursement.

Requirements

The successful candidate will bring experience, presence, and maturity aligned with the organization’s scale, community standing, and values. There is no single pathway to this role, but the ideal candidate will have:

  • Experience in nonprofit management, preferably in the IDD sector.
  • Strong leadership skills, including strategic planning, decision-making, and emotional intelligence.
  • Proven ability to build and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders, including board members, staff, volunteers, and community partners.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to articulate the organization's mission and values effectively.
  • Experience in managing a diverse and large workforce, including overseeing human resources, training, and development.
  • Knowledge of relevant laws and regulations governing nonprofit organizations and services for people with developmental disabilities.
  • Ability to manage a complex budget and fundraising efforts.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • A bachelor's degree or higher in a related field (e.g., social work, psychology, public administration).
  • At least 10 years of progressive experience in nonprofit management, preferably in the IDD sector.
  • Experience in strategic planning, program development, and evaluation.
  • Experience in managing a diverse and large workforce, including overseeing human resources, training, and development.
  • Knowledge of relevant laws and regulations governing nonprofit organizations and services for people with developmental disabilities.
  • Experience in managing a complex budget and fundraising efforts.

Benefits

The salary range for this position annually is between $330,000 – $385,000 and will be commensurable with experience.
