Position Overview
The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) serves as the senior executive leader of Buffalo Medical Group and is responsible for the overall management, strategic direction, operational performance, and financial sustainability of the organization. Reporting directly to the Board of Directors, the CEO partners closely with physician shareholders, the Medical Director, and the executive leadership team to advance the organization's mission while preserving its physician-led culture and independence.
Organizational Overview
Buffalo Medical Group (BMG) was established in 1946 by four visionary physicians who believed collaborative group practice would provide better care than the traditional solo practice model. Today, BMG consists of approximately 200 providers representing a broad range of medical and surgical specialties across multiple locations throughout Western New York. BMG's integrated physician-led care model brings together primary care physicians, specialists, advanced practice providers, and administrative leadership in a highly collaborative environment, enhancing the patient experience, strengthening clinical quality and operational performance, supporting value-based care initiatives, and reinforcing the organization's long-standing commitment to independent, physician-led healthcare.

Strategic Leadership & Organizational Stewardship: Provide strategic leadership that balances preservation of BMG's culture and independence with the innovation and adaptability necessary to thrive in a rapidly evolving healthcare environment.
Physician Partnership & Governance: Foster strong relationships with physician shareholders and effectively navigate a collaborative governance structure built on transparency, trust, and shared decision-making.
Healthcare Business & Financial Acumen: Drive financial sustainability and organizational performance through strong business leadership, disciplined financial management, and strategic decision-making.
Operational Excellence & Performance Improvement: Create operational discipline and accountability while driving continuous improvement across the organization.
Quality, Patient Experience & Population Health: Champion initiatives that improve quality outcomes, patient satisfaction, and value-based care performance.

Experience & Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in healthcare administration, business administration, finance, public health, or a related field required.
- Advanced degree (e.g., MHA, MBA, MPH, JD, MD, DO, or related field) strongly preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years in a senior executive healthcare leadership role required.
- Significant executive leadership experience within healthcare, including responsibility for strategic planning, operations, financial performance, organizational transformation, and physician partnership.
- Demonstrated success leading a large, complex physician enterprise, multi-specialty medical group, integrated physician organization, integrated health delivery system, or comparable healthcare organization.
- Proven experience working collaboratively with Boards of Directors, physician leaders, executive leadership teams, and diverse stakeholder groups.
- Demonstrated ability to lead through organizational growth, change, and healthcare transformation while building alignment and trust across the organization.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Experience navigating reimbursement, payor relations, and healthcare regulatory environments.
- Understanding of regional healthcare markets, competitive dynamics, and emerging industry trends.
- Experience with value-based care, population health, quality performance programs, and risk-based reimbursement models.
- Familiarity with physician compensation models, provider productivity metrics, and physician practice management.
- Demonstrated ability to leverage data, analytics, digital health solutions, and emerging technologies to improve organizational performance, operational efficiency, patient experience, and clinical outcomes.
- Experience evaluating and implementing innovative technologies, including artificial intelligence and automation solutions, to enhance decision-making, workflow optimization, patient engagement, and administrative effectiveness.

Compensation & Work Location
Buffalo Medical Group offers a competitive executive compensation package, including a base salary beginning at $450,000+, with total compensation commensurate with the selected candidate's experience, qualifications, and overall fit for the role. In addition to base salary, the CEO will be eligible for an annual incentive opportunity and a comprehensive benefits package. This position is based in Buffalo, New York, and requires a full-time, on-site executive presence.
