Chief Estimator

About the role

Lead and direct cost estimating for a leading NYC investor developer, playing an integral role on future major high‑end commercial real estate projects. Act as the firm’s focal point on all estimating matters, providing insight into standards, methods, and future strategy, setting benchmarks, minimizing risks, and working closely with the preconstruction team and office heads.

Responsibilities

• Lead and direct cost estimating activities
• Perform quantity take‑offs and prepare detailed cost estimates
• Help limit financial risks and improve forecasting
• Provide insight and input into estimating standards, methods, and future strategy
• Set benchmarks for the team and minimise estimating risk
• Mentor and lead junior estimating staff
• Collaborate with preconstruction team and office heads on major commercial projects

Requirements

• Proven leadership experience in estimating, with ability to demonstrate mentoring of junior staff
• Relevant bachelor’s degree; a master’s in a related field is preferred
• Senior‑level cost estimating experience in the build and construction sector
• Experience in the commercial residential market
• Knowledge of construction means and methods, procurement strategies, and project delivery models
• Advanced MS Excel proficiency
• Hands‑on experience with estimating software/packages

Pay

Base salary in the range of $250,000 – $300,000 per annum.
