Chief Engineer (Hotel Maintenance)

Opportunity: Chief Engineer – Manage general and preventative maintenance functions to ensure guest service and sustainability standards are achieved and maintained throughout the hotel structure.

Responsibilities

• Leadership: Interview, select, train, schedule, coach, and support associates to ensure they perform in accordance with brand standards and HHM core values.
• Financial and Vendor Oversight: Manage and coordinate bids, quotes, and contracts for third‑party vendors.
• Project Management: Oversee small projects or Property Improvement Plans (PIPs) and report on work progress.
• Technical Repairs: Perform and oversee tasks including sheetrock repair, painting, furniture refinishing, and replacement of electrical and plumbing fixtures.
• Equipment and Systems: Troubleshoot kitchen equipment, repair heating/cooling pumps, and install and program televisions.
• Preventative Maintenance: Maintain accurate records of preventive maintenance on all rooms and equipment; test and maintain life‑safety systems to ensure 100 % operational.
• Compliance: Coordinate compliance of service contracts and ensure all work meets local, state, and federal codes.
• Operations: Maintain the building exterior and curb appeal while following EarthView sustainability guidelines.
• Safety and Service: Practice safe work habits following MSDS and OSHA standards while working to increase guest‑satisfaction scores.

Qualifications

• High school diploma and/or trade‑school coursework in a related field (preferred).
• Previous supervisory engineer/maintenance experience or equivalent training (required).
• HVAC certification (required).
• Other certifications may be required based on local needs.

Schedule

Work schedule varies and may include holidays, weekends, or alternate shifts.

Physical Demands

Requires standing for extended periods, walking, pushing, lifting up to 50 pounds, bending, reaching, climbing, stooping, kneeling, or crouching.
