Chief Engineer - Civil/Structural

What You Will Do

• Plan, organize, manage and execute designated engineering projects and programs, ensuring the successful conclusion of all phases within an appropriate time and at appropriate cost.
• Perform detailed engineering design tasks for assigned projects, including calculations, drawings and specifications while maintaining accurate records throughout the project life cycle.
• Develop and prepare technical documentation and reports to support design decisions and project requirements.
• Participate in project meetings and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to integrate engineering solutions into overall project plans.
• Congduct design reviews and evaluate vendor proposals to ensure compliance with applicable codes, standards, and company requirements.
• Utilize engineering software and tools to model, simulate, and analyze design components.
• Assist in resolving technical issues during construction and commissioning phases.
• Continuously improve design processes and contribute to knowledge sharing within the project office.

What You Bring To Freeport

• Bachelor’s degree in Structural or Civil Engineering or related discipline and seven (7) years of engineering experience including lead or supervisory experience OR Master’s degree in Structural or Civil Engineering or related discipline and five (5) years of engineering experience including lead or supervisory experience
• Advanced knowledge of engineering principles and practices
• Experience managing large or complex engineering projects
• Strong awareness of occupational hazards and safety precautions
• Effective communication skills, both oral and written
• Advanced degree and/or Professional Engineering (PE) Certification preferred

Preferred Qualifications

• Expertise with applicable industry standards and Civil and Structural engineering design criteria
• Expertise developing Civil and Structural deliverables such as 3D models, steel and concrete drawings, connection details, calculations, Bills of Material (BOMs), and Engineering Work Packages (EWPs)
• Proficiency developing and contributing to development of scoping documents, P6 schedules, budgets, staffing plans, and estimates
• Proficiency with structural design in high-seismic zones
• Proficiency working in multi-disciplinary design teams
• Experience creating and implementing engineering procedures and standards
