Duties/Responsibilities
- Plan, coordinate, and oversee the maintenance and repair of all hotel facilities, including guest rooms, public areas, and back-of-house areas.
- Develop and implement preventive maintenance programs to ensure the ongoing safety and functionality of all mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems.
- Partner with the Director of Engineering to manage the budget for the engineering department, including forecasting and cost control measures.
- Hire, train, and supervise a team of maintenance technicians, ensuring they have the necessary skills and knowledge to perform their duties effectively.
- Cooky with external contractors and vendors for specialized maintenance and repair work.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and safety standards, including OSHA and local building codes.
- Respond promptly to guest requests and complaints related to maintenance issues, ensuring their satisfaction and comfort.
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, including work orders, inventory, and equipment manuals.
- Stay updated with industry trends and best practices in engineering and maintenance management.
- Prioritize work and tasks for the department.
- Help to develop a world-class engineering team.
Required Skills/Abilities
- A high school diploma or equivalent.
- A bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related technical school degree preferred or equivalent experience.
- Minimum of 4 years of experience in hotel engineering or a similar role.
- Strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems, as well as building automation systems.
- Minimum of 4 years of luxury hotel experience.
- Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to manage a team effectively.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
- EPA Universal - required within 90 days.
- CPO- Required withing 90 days.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Must be able to work holidays and weekends.
Physical Requirements
- Must be able to lift equipment, supplies, etc. of at least 30 pounds.
- Must be able to resolve problems, handle conflict, and make effective decisions under pressure.
- The role may require extended periods on your feet, especially during peak hotel hours or events.
- Clear vision is important for reading reports, analyzing data, and overseeing Engineering activities.
- Good hearing is necessary for effective communication with colleagues, guests, and stakeholders.
