The Chief Electrical Engineer will supervise and direct electrical maintenance personnel in installation, repair, and maintenance of all electrical systems and power distribution equipment. This person will be responsible for supervision of the electrical and lighting operations teams on assigned shift. Responsibilities
- Electrical Systems Management: Supervises and directs electrical maintenance staff on assigned shifts and monitors performance of their electrical system responsibilities. Performs and/or directs electrical service requests, ensuring work is accomplished efficiently with minimal power disruptions and building downtime. Follows up with proper system testing and documentation. Diagnoses malfunctioning electrical equipment including power distribution panels, transformers, motors and lighting systems. Determines corrective action required to restore electrical systems to satisfactory operating condition.
- Training: Provides electrical training and supervision aimed at expanding the capabilities of the electrical operations staff. Specific duties include but are not limited to demonstrating proper use and care of electrical tools, meters, and testing equipment; providing hands-on instruction in electrical maintenance, electrical safety protocols, and troubleshooting procedures; recommending relevant electrical engineering and safety courses for enrolment; and instilling overall professionalism in electrical practices.
- Electrical Safety & Maintenance: Supervises electrical preventative maintenance programs. Specific duties include scheduling electrical preventative maintenance with minimal disruption to building power services, performing and/or delegating electrical maintenance tasks to appropriately qualified electrical staff, ordering electrical parts and components required for repair and installation of electrical equipment, and maintaining electrical inventory. Ensures compliance with NEC, OSHA electrical safety standards, and departmental policies for safe handling of electrical systems. Implements lockout/tagout procedures and arc flash safety protocols. Maintains clean and electrically safe work environments. Ensures availability of adequate electrical tools, testing equipment, and supplies. Performs periodic electrical tool inventory checks.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma required
- 5 years of experience in commercial/industrial electrical maintenance and building systems
- 5 years of electrical supervisory experience
- Experience as journeyman electrician with strong skills in building automation systems, life safety electrical systems, power distribution, and motor control systems required
- Must be proficient in electrical diagnostic software, building automation systems, and basic computer applications such as MS Office and email
- Excellent interpersonal communication skills required
- Able to interact effectively with all organizational levels and outside electrical contractors, consulting engineers, and equipment vendors
- Knowledge of electrical codes, safety regulations, and industry best practices essential
Preferred Qualifications
- Associate degree in electrical technology or related field
- Exposure to electrical systems integration with HVAC controls, fire alarm systems, security systems, and emergency power systems
- Completion of electrical apprenticeship program or equivalent electrical trades training
- Current electrical license (journeyman or master electrician)
Schedule & Location
Onsite - Thousand Oaks, CA. Work Shift: M-F, 7am-3pm, overtime and weekends based on business needs.
Pay
$52/hr
