Position Summary

Plays an important role in the lending process, including oversight of Credit Administration. Provides guidance and assistance to relationship managers and direct reports. Approves loans within lending authority and recommends approval of loans over lending authority. Initiates, develops, approves, reviews and monitors the implementation of bank's lending policies and procedures. In general, helps ensure the maintenance of the highest level of quality and profitability of the bank's loan portfolio.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Has decision-making and signing authority (credit approval, overdraft sign-off, wire approval) consistent with bank policies
  • Member of the Management Loan Committee. When loans are part of the discussion, attends Board of Director meetings. Oversees completion of meeting minutes for both
  • Provides recommendations to management relative to evaluating loan portfolio quality, enhancing the underwriting standards to mitigate weakness in bank's credit/loan policies, monitoring loans for risky rating changes
  • Responsible, jointly with the Chief Lending Officer, for advising management and Board of Directors on formulation, revisions and approval of the Credit Policy
  • Monitor and ensure lenders' adherence to the Bank's lending policies and operating procedures (exception reports, delinquency reports, etc.)
  • Demonstrates teamwork and facilitates communication and work flow, including creative and pragmatic solutions to credit challenges
  • Works effectively and cooperatively with Relationship Managers, Loan Administrators, retail staff and other team members in achieving goals
  • Facilitates the loan review process (currently outsourced to Ardmore Banking Advisors). Is also a major point of contact for the audit and compliance functions
  • Provides guidance to Credit Officer(s) and Credit Department management. Ensures the efficient and free flow of information through the Credit Department to support and enhance the productivity and efficient servicing of their customer. Helps conducts employment interviews, reviews employment needs and staffs Credit Department with high performers
  • As the need arises manage special projects to implement new credit products, procedures policies or software tools. Assumes additional responsibilities as required

Requirements

  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in all types of bank lending preferred, with in-depth knowledge of credit analysis, banking laws and regulations/regulatory requirements. Working knowledge of bank operations and branch functions
  • Strong organizational, interpersonal, management, communication (both written and oral), analytical, problem-solving skills
  • Ability to lead others in managing tasks, train and evaluate the performance of assigned personnel
  • Bachelor's degree required or equivalent work experience in Finance or Accounting
