Essential Duties
- Develop and execute a comprehensive commercial strategy aligned with the company's vision and goals.
- Lead market analysis to identify growth opportunities and emerging trends in the clinical research industry.
- Drive business development efforts to secure new partnerships, enhance client relationships, and expand the client base.
- Oversee the sales process, ensuring effective lead generation, proposal development, and contract negotiations.
- Create a market/branding strategy and ensure compelling messaging and positioning strategies to effectively communicate company value proposition.
- Optimize digital marketing and outreach programs to increase brand awareness and engagement.
- Build, coach and develop a high-performing commercial team focused on achieving strategic objectives.
- Build simply scalable processes and ensure the correct reports, systems and tools to support the commercial team that encourages success.
- Foster a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement across all commercial functions.
- Work closely with operations, clinical, and research teams to align commercial initiatives with service delivery capabilities.
- Ensure feedback from clients and stakeholders is incorporated into service improvements and innovation.
- Establish key metrics, dashboards and reports to measure the progress and success of commercial initiatives and report to the executive team and board of directors.
- Analyze market and sales data to drive informed decision-making and strategic adjustments.
- As part of the company’s leadership team, ensure that all activities of the organization are aligned to meet customer needs.
Supervisory Responsibilities
- Manage and lead teams to ensure business goals, deadlines, and performance standards are met according to benchmarks set and established company guidelines.
- Set and communicate goals for performance and deadlines in ways that compel and motivate the team.

- Identify, recommend, and implement appropriate/necessary training and professional development for self and staff reporting to the position.
- Ensure adherence to legal and company policies and procedures and partner with Talent Services regarding recommended appropriate action.

- Proven leadership abilities with a track record of building and developing high-performing teams.
- Proven experience and success driving significant revenue growth, expanding market share, and achieving commercial targets.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to effectively convey ideas and information clearly and concisely.
- Outstanding presentation skills and able to present to executives and large groups at conferences.
- Strong interpersonal and negotiation skills.
- Able to effectively engage and collaborate with staff at all levels of the organization.
- Knowledge of applicable regulations and standards affecting pharmaceutical, biotech and medical device products.
- Strong process mapping abilities and building or upgrading tools, systems and processes.
- Able to consistently manage numerous high-priority concurrent projects.
- Excellent analytical skills, with an aptitude in sound decision-making and problem-solving in pressure situations.
- Creative thinker and able to develop innovative approaches and ideas to meet challenges.
- Able to work independently and collaborate across different teams to meet company goals and projects.
- Fully competent in Microsoft Office 365 (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams), SharePoint, and CRM Systems, with the ability to leverage technology to drive strategic and operational success.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in business, economics, marketing or relevant discipline.
- MBA preferred.
- 12+ years of leadership experience in IRO, pharma or CRO industry with 4 years in IRO experience.
- Minimum of 7 years managing functions inclusive of business development.
