About the role
We are seeking an experienced Chief Accounting Officer (CAO) to provide immediate leadership and oversight of a complex accounting function during a critical transition period. This individual will serve as a key member of the finance leadership team, partnering closely with executive leadership to ensure the integrity of financial reporting, strengthen accounting operations, and guide the organization through a period of change.
Responsibilities
- Provide executive leadership and oversight of the accounting function.
- Ensure the timely and accurate preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting.
- Serve as the organization's technical accounting expert, providing guidance on complex accounting matters and transactions.
- Maintain and enhance internal controls, accounting policies, and governance processes.
- Lead relationships with internal and external auditors, ensuring successful audit execution.
- Partner with executive leadership on strategic financial initiatives and operational decision-making.
- Lead, mentor, and develop the accounting organization while establishing accountability and operational excellence.
- Evaluate existing accounting processes and implement improvements to enhance efficiency, scalability, and control.
- Support critical finance and accounting initiatives throughout the engagement.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA strongly preferred.
- 15+ years of progressive accounting leadership experience, including experience as a Chief Accounting Officer, Corporate Controller, or similar executive-level accounting leader.
- Deep knowledge of U.S. GAAP, technical accounting, financial reporting, internal controls, and audit management.
- Demonstrated success leading accounting organizations through periods of transition, transformation, or organizational change.
- Prowess in partnering effectively with executive leadership and influencing strategic decisions.
- Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to quickly assess priorities, execute independently, and thrive in a fast-paced environment.
