Chicago Dept. of Aviation- Project Manager (H&R Plant)
About the role
The Project Manager, BX18 is responsible for supporting the City of Chicago’s Department of Aviation in managing and delivering large municipal projects that enhance infrastructure, services, and programs. Key responsibilities include coordinating and inspecting maintenance contracts, reviewing proposals and invoices, and ensuring compliance with FAA regulations.
Responsibilities
- Coordinates and inspects maintenance term contract work, including asphalt, concrete, pavement marking, fence and guard rail, automatic doors, and expansion joint maintenance.
- Coordinates with airlines, other tenants, and other Department of Aviation sections, as well as ongoing Airport construction projects.
- Coordinates with the Airfield Operations section to ensure compliance with FAA regulations (Part 139).
- Reviews and processes proposals and invoices, attends site meetings with term contracts, airfield operation personnel, and airline representatives, and prepares reports.
- Ensures airport operations are not adversely affected during maintenance project activities.
Requirements
- Minimum of nine (9) years of work experience in project management or program coordination.
- Associate's degree plus seven (7) years of project management or program coordination work experience.
- Bachelor's degree plus five (5) years of project management or program coordination work experience.
- Master's degree or higher plus four (4) years of project management or program coordination work experience.
- Project Management Professional (PMP) certification preferred.
- May be required to work late nights or weekends.
- A valid State of Illinois driver's license is required.
Qualifications
- Passes an airport background check and a Security Threat Assessment (STA).

$91,788.00 starting salary.

Monday - Friday, 8:30 AM – 4:30 PM.
