About the role
The Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) at MUHA Worker Type Employee Worker Sub-Type Regular works under direct supervision of a Registered Nurse. They perform multi-skilled duties within the limits of training and certification in caring for the patient. Duties include assisting the nursing team with various patient care activities and related services necessary for the personal needs, comfort, and safety of patients.
Responsibilities
- Affords assistance to patients in their move toward independence by setting realistic goals and treatment plans.
- Works as part of a multidisciplinary team and often coordinates patient care and team activities.
- Affords assistance with personal hygiene, dressing, walking.
- Changes bed linens and assists with patient transportation to tests and procedures.
- Serves and collects food trays and provides patients with between-meal nourishment.
- Records temperature or vital signs under the direction of a nurse.
Requirements
- Current American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or American Red Cross BLS for Healthcare Providers certification is required.
Qualifications
Must have a high school diploma or equivalent. Must be able to pass a background check and drug screen. Must be able to work flexible hours including weekends and holidays.
Skills
Strong communication skills, ability to work independently and as part of a team, and a compassionate attitude towards patients are essential.
