About the role
The Chester County Planning Commission seeks a Community Planner to assist in advancing sound and innovative planning efforts throughout Chester County. The position supports the implementation of the county’s long-range plan, Landscapes3, by improving quality-of-life through planning initiatives.
The Planning Commission operates in a hybrid work environment.
Responsibilities
- Write comprehensive plans, zoning ordinances, subdivision and land development ordinances, and special planning studies for townships, boroughs, and other clients.
- Monitor grant programs.
- Attend evening meetings.
- Collaborate frequently with municipal officials, community stakeholders, local planning partners, and internal project teams.
Requirements
- Well-organized, detail-oriented, and self-directed.
- Knowledge and understanding of the PA Municipalities Planning Code, local government in Pennsylvania, comprehensive plans, zoning ordinances, and subdivision and land development regulations.
- Ability to multi-task and prioritize projects.
- Strong verbal, written, public speaking, and computer skills, including Microsoft Office and a working knowledge of ESRI ArcGIS products.
- Experience in project management, analyzing data, and creating presentations.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in planning or a related field.
- Minimum of three to four years of job-related experience.
- Master’s degree preferred.
- AICP accreditation is a plus.
Pay
Starting salary: $63,564
