About the role

The Chester County Planning Commission seeks a Community Planner to assist in advancing sound and innovative planning efforts throughout Chester County. The position supports the implementation of the county’s long-range plan, Landscapes3, by improving quality-of-life through planning initiatives.

The Planning Commission operates in a hybrid work environment.

Responsibilities

• Write comprehensive plans, zoning ordinances, subdivision and land development ordinances, and special planning studies for townships, boroughs, and other clients.
• Monitor grant programs.
• Attend evening meetings.
• Collaborate frequently with municipal officials, community stakeholders, local planning partners, and internal project teams.

Requirements

• Well-organized, detail-oriented, and self-directed.
• Knowledge and understanding of the PA Municipalities Planning Code, local government in Pennsylvania, comprehensive plans, zoning ordinances, and subdivision and land development regulations.
• Ability to multi-task and prioritize projects.
• Strong verbal, written, public speaking, and computer skills, including Microsoft Office and a working knowledge of ESRI ArcGIS products.
• Experience in project management, analyzing data, and creating presentations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in planning or a related field.
• Minimum of three to four years of job-related experience.
• Master’s degree preferred.
• AICP accreditation is a plus.

Pay

Starting salary: $63,564
