About the Role

Instructor for Chemistry in the Healthcare and Sciences Department, responsible for providing instruction in Chemistry courses and related topics. This role includes teaching extended day classes, labs, and hybrid/online courses both on campus and at alternate locations, maintaining office hours, and contributing to curriculum development and program computer lab maintenance.

Responsibilities

  • Actively engage students in the learning process
  • Maintain ethical and professional behavior
  • Adhere to the policies and procedures outlined in the TSUS and LIT Policies and Procedures Manual
  • Participate in college service, including committee work, advising, tutoring, and recruiting
  • Teach classes during fall and spring semesters, including day, evening, weekend, Early College High School/dual credit, and online courses
  • Provide mentorship to dual credit partners/mentees
  • Attend Teaching and Learning Center sessions to enhance teaching skills
  • Stay updated on national matters and trends in education
  • Participate in assessment activities for the LIT Core Curriculum
  • Assist in curriculum development as needed
  • Help coordinate and attend advisory committee meetings
  • Attend workshops, seminars, and conferences to upgrade teaching skills
  • Perform other related duties as required

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in Chemistry or Master’s degree with 18 graduate hours in Chemistry
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications
  • Knowledge of teaching methodologies and pedagogical strategies
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work well in a team environment
  • Good time management skills
