About the Role
An individual contributor with responsibility in technical functions to advance existing technology or introduce new technology and therapies. Formulates, delivers, and/or manages projects assigned and works with other stakeholders to achieve desired results. The majority of time is spent delivering R&D, systems, or initiatives related to new technologies or therapies—from design to implementation—while adhering to policies, using specialized knowledge and skills.
Works independently with general supervision on larger, moderately complex projects. Sets objectives for own job area to meet project milestones and may contribute to cross-functional assignments. Problems faced are general but may require understanding of broader issues, with adjustments or recommendations made to enhance systems and processes.
Communicates primarily with internal contacts, with external interactions focused on information sharing or problem-solving. May provide guidance to entry-level professionals or support staff.
Responsibilities
- Conducts exploratory research to produce new knowledge and potential products; conceives, organizes, promotes, and executes ideas to increase chemistry's role in product discovery.
- Develops research proposals to provide a technically and economically sound basis for new or improved products, synthetic methods, processes, and analytical/physical testing techniques.
- Recommends utilization of research results, changes in project scope, or termination of projects.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Baccalaureate degree in Chemistry or a related field (or equivalent as defined by 8 C.F.R. 214.2(h)(4)(iii)(A)).
- Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in a technical or R&D role.
- Laboratory experience, preferably in a pharma or combination device-regulated industry.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with ISO/IEC 17025 laboratory standards.
- Background in adhesion, materials science, or polymers.
