About the Role
We are seeking a Chemist I to perform routine chemical analyses, sample preparation, data compilation, and laboratory maintenance tasks. This role is ideal for a recent graduate with a strong foundation in chemistry, particularly in analytical techniques.
Responsibilities
- Perform routine chemical analyses using inductively coupled plasma optical emission spectrometer or dry combustion analyzers to quantify analytes such as carbon, boron, calcium, copper, nitrogen, magnesium, phosphorus, potassium, or zinc.
- Prepare reagents and calibration standards, and follow established analytical methods.
- Review sample submissions for completeness, log, track, and prepare samples using established procedures including filtration, digestion, extraction, and homogenization, while maintaining proper documentation.
- Compile analytical results, perform QA/QC checks, and enter data into the Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS).
- Generate accurate and timely reports.
- Follow laboratory SOPs, QA/QC protocols, and safety procedures, including proper use of PPE and safe handling of chemicals.
- Perform routine instrument maintenance, maintain laboratory cleanliness, and manage chemical, supply, and waste inventories.
- Support laboratory operations through other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in chemistry or a closely related field.
Preferred Qualifications
- Academic coursework and/or practical experience in analytical chemistry techniques, including inductively coupled plasma and combustion instrumentation, colorimetric analyses, titrations, and operation of automated analytical instrumentation.
- Experience in a service laboratory environment.
- Familiarity with QA/QC procedures.
- Proficiency with Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS).
Pay
$22.11-$29.09 /hour, commensurate with education and experience.
