About the role
The Chemist will report directly to the Sr. Director, R&D and Innovation, developing cosmetic products across various forms while ensuring quality and stability from lab to production. This role involves staying current with industry trends, presenting innovative ideas, and collaborating with marketing to deliver products on schedule in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities
- Independently formulate cosmetic products (emulsions, sticks, powders, etc.) according to product briefs and benchmarks.
- Manage multiple projects from inception to launch, ensuring timely milestone completion.
- Maintain accurate bench records and review formulas for smooth production transition.
- Issue compounding SOPs, product specifications, and filling SOPs; collaborate with production and compounding departments for clear communication.
- Work with compounding teams to oversee pilot batches and make necessary adjustments.
- Oversee product stability and compatibility testing.
- Troubleshoot formulas and compounding batches that fall out of specification.
- Perform routine laboratory tests (pH analysis, viscosity, specific gravity, particle size, melting point).
- Determine fill weight based on approved components.
- Attend supplier meetings, industry seminars, and events to stay updated on trends and technology.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by management.
