About the role
We are seeking a Chemist to perform testing, sample preparation, delivery and collection of samples, and preparation of test reports.
Responsibilities
- Analysis of water—physical, chemical, and microbiological parameters
- Analysis of ores and minerals
- Analysis of water, soil, aggregates, concrete, and scale samples
- Operation of equipment such as pH/EC/TDS meters, UV-visible spectrophotometers, ovens, furnaces, incubators, and fusion machines
- Preparation of reagents and standard solutions, ensuring standardization of solutions used in the laboratory
- Handling and storage of all chemicals as per the Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS)
- Managing the calibration of glassware and instruments
- Performance of qualitative and quantitative laboratory tests and analysis of other substances as per standard methods
- Issuing reports and receiving samples to and from respective entities
- Involvement in site and field testing with various international standards or in-house procedures
- Ensuring work compliance with ISO 17025 requirements
- Coordinating with other technicians in the team to carry out work as per the planning schedule
- Manual handling of samples
- General maintenance, cleaning, and checking of equipment
- Working to all HSE standards
- Interaction with clients during witnessed testing
- Generating test reports for clients (data entry, quality assurance)
- Ensuring compliance with all Element Material Technology quality standards
- Driving to customer sites to collect samples and/or conduct testing at their lab on a regular/daily basis
- Willingness to assist in other activities as requested by the department manager to support Element’s annual targets and budget
Requirements
- Diploma or degree in Chemistry with at least 2 years of experience in a similar role
- Ability to work in teams under pressure and flexibility to work different shifts (night/day) if required
- Good English communication skills: reading, writing, and speaking
- Strong math skills
- Knowledge and experience in the safe operation of testing equipment and working in an independent/chemistry/consultant laboratory
Pay
$30–$35 per hour, depending on experience.
