About the role

The Chemist will support Glenn's efforts in developing innovative solutions for the Personal Care industry. They will work closely with the commercial team to understand customer needs and provide technical support.

Responsibilities

  • Develop formulations for use by Sales Team and for customer projects.
  • Plan and conduct evaluation of the performance of formulations.
  • Support the development of test methods for formulation performance testing.
  • Compile data from evaluations and interpret results to form sound conclusions and recommendations.
  • Prepare samples for customer evaluation of developed formulations.
  • Report project work and findings internally and externally according to the requirements of each project opportunity.
  • Input formulations into company formulations system.
  • Implement laboratory procedures.
  • Maintain good Health and Safety Procedures in the laboratory at all times.
  • Achieve accurate records in line with regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain inventory and stock records, where required.
  • Setup new equipment if acquired.
  • Field technical inquiries from customers.
  • Provide support and participate in staff meetings and training events, customer meetings, or tradeshows as required.

Requirements

  • University bachelor’s degree in Cosmetic Science, Personal Care Science, Chemistry, or a related technical field or relevant laboratory experience.
  • Prior experience with typical personal care formulations is required.
  • Strong background in Skin Care and/or Hair Care formulation.
  • 3+ years of formulating experience desired.
  • An analytical approach and attention to detail.
  • Good listening skills and ability to write and speak clearly.
  • Problem solving skills.
  • Customer service skills.
  • Ability to change and quickly learn new systems and product technologies.
  • Ability to work under pressure (with safe procedures always the first responsibility).
  • Time management and prioritization skills to work with multiple projects.
  • IT skills.
  • Flexible and open approach to new challenges.
  • Team player.
  • Ability and willingness to work as part of a small team.
  • Willing to help others, even when work is outside of your direct responsibility.
